Mesha Muwanga

I have been practicing as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) for the last 11 years. As a practitioner I have worked for the Mary K. Shell crisis hotline, Omni behavioral health, Clinica Sierra Vista, Kaiser, Mental Health Systems, Scotts Youth facility, Psychiatric Wellness Center, and Friese Hope House. I have held titles which include mental/behavioral health therapist, program coordinator, supervisor, shift coordinator, assessment coordinator, professor and head of service. As a provider I believe in knowledge and truth as path to achieving a mentally healthy self. I currently own my own private practice in which I practice as a Christian therapist and I am a professor at Bakersfield College and University of Phoenix.  I enjoy helping clients gain clarity of thought and seeing life through scriptural lenses as the basis of truth.

I help clients find their freedom. I believe that there is hope in every situation and I am skilled in working with client’s who have a hard time believing that they can overcome. I have experience working with anxiety, depression, trauma, communication, and relationships. As a Christian therapist I believe in a holistic approach to treatment and focus on the physical, spiritual, and emotional needs of a client.

I specialize in utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Techniques, Dialectical Behavior Techniques, Narrative techniques to identify problematic thoughts and language which leads to alternative moods and alternative behaviors.

I have experience in treating clients with:

· Addictions

· Marital issues

· Children experiencing issues related to school, self-esteem, bullying, educational difficulties, identity, suicidal ideations, defiance, and conduct issues. 

· The severely mentally ill experiencing psychosis, homelessness, and substance use.

Mesha takes a special interest in providing premarital counseling and does provide services as a Christian counselor for those interested.
